There's been a deadly clash in Afghanistan today between coalition forces and insurgents. According to the U.S.-led coalition, several insurgents and two civilians died after militants who were barricaded in a mud-brick home opened fire on the troops.

The coalition blames insurgents for putting "innocent women and children in harm's way."

Also today, a roadside bomb that had just been planted hit a vehicle convoy carrying the governor of Kandar. Three policemen were killed and two others were wounded. The governor wasn't hurt.
