"The suspect used the victim's phone to obtain a phone number for the victim's friend and stated he wanted to meet with the victim at which time he would return his items for a hundred dollars," said Bimley West of the Merced Police Department.
The victim told police about the call, and officers went to the meeting point instead. They arrested Fonseca and booked him into jail on several charges including kidnapping and robbery.
