Suspect Wanted In Attempted Kidnapping

Fresno Police say the attempted abduction happened Friday afternoon near Palm and Dakota in central Fresno.

The girl was coming home from Wawona middle school, walking along the canal bank on Peach. She told police she was grabbed from behind.

Tom Rowe, Fresno Police Department, says "The female struggled with the man, she bit him, and he put her down she ran home to her mother. She was not injured but was shaken up."

The girl told police the suspect was a Spanish speaking man driving a green SUV.

"At this point we believe this is an isolated incident. We've had no reports of other attempts. Our detectives are reviewing the facts and working on the case," says Rowe.

Fresno police expect to have increased patrols in the area Monday, especially before and after school.

A school district spokesperson told us the girl was very brave and did the right thing. The district will have more information for students and parents on Monday.
