Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer will be sworn in as president of the association. He said one of the most important aspects of the conference is contact with state leaders, especially Governor Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown. Chief Dyer said those officials need to know the issues affecting police officers across California.
Area hotels are also benefiting from the conference. Over 1,600 rooms have been booked through Thursday.
