3/7/2008 Fresno To qualify for the rebate checks, people must have made at least $3,000 dollars from a combination of earned income and other sources such as social security.

Most people will be getting checks of $300 dollars to $600 dollars for individuals and $1,200 dollars for couples starting around May. But people have to file their taxes to receive a payment.

The I.R.S is offering a list of companies that offer the free filing service on its web site.
