Its mid-March and Brian Tessler is in his element; stressing shot selection and encouraging better execution while still holding the attention of his players.Tesslers' Rams are smart to listen. The first year Fresno City College coach has the program just three wins away from a state championship.

After a regular season in which FCC raced through its schedule winning 34 of 36 games the Lady Rams face the possibility of playing the only two teams to beat them this season at this week's Elite 8 state championships in Stockton.

Talk of a state title probably wouldn't be possible without conference MVP Lena Gipson. Two years after completely blowing out her knee, the one-time Arizona State player dominated the low post like few others this season becoming the Rams go-to scorer and first option in the half-court.

The road to the state title begins Thursday night when the Rams face off against Ventura College in Stockton.
