Counterfeit Ring Busted, 3 Arrested

3/16/2008 Stanislaus Detectives say a woman and two men used computers and printers to make fake cash.

Investigators say the suspects printed a lot of bad bills, as they worked to find the right color scheme. The phony money was passed at a Target store in Riverbank where the woman worked as a cashier.

Mark Copeland, Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, says "He'd look down; he'd get a $3 item, and cash the $100 bill."

The three people were caught when Target security discovered the phony hundred dollar bills. They checked store video tape and spotted the transactions.
