Dozens of visitors touched and fed the sea creatures at "Stingray Bay" this Monday afternoon. Zoo Director Lewis Greene says the public feedings were put on hold Saturday when a stingray sucked on the arm of a little girl while she was feeding the animals.
Lewis Greene, Chaffee Zoo Director: "The little girl seems to be fine as well."
The stingrays were fed only by zoo staff members for the rest of the weekend. Greene says it's important to remember the stingrays have no teeth and sucking is the way they get their food.
