Five firefighters remained in the hospital Sunday night, with injuries ranging from respiratory irritation to mild chemical burns.
It took more than 100 firefighters to finally knock down the flames.
The fire was burning outside the factory near large chemical tanks. The tanks, containing thousands of gallons of sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, and phosphoric acid, began leaking because of the extreme heat. Fire officials called in a hazardous materials crew because of the dangerous chemicals.
Thirty-five surrounding businesses in the commercial park, most of which were empty due to the Easter holiday, were evacuated as a precaution.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
