Man shot after attacking officers

HOLLYWOOD LAPD officers say they were patrolling in Hollywood around 4 a.m. when they noticed a man lying on the ground in the 1400 block of Curson Avenue.

They say they went to check on him and he drew a knife, stabbing one officer in the hand.

"Subsequent to that there was an officer-involved shooting where the suspect was shot by the officers and ultimately died here at the scene," said Sgt. Lee Sands, LAPD.

The officer who was stabbed was treated at a nearby hospital.
