Shriver calls for volunteers to honor Chavez

Volunteers will help build a playground
LOS ANGELES 400 volunteers are needed to build a playground in honor of labor activist Cesar Chavez. Building will begin Sunday in the Salton Sea community of North Shore.

Shriver's California Volunteers will erect 10 new community play spaces that aim to serve thousands of children in the state.

"I can't think of a better way to celebrate the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez than to pass his message of service and selflessness to the children of our communities," said Shriver.

Volunteer registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The day's activities will commence with Sunday breakfast, followed by opening ceremonies. Lunch will also be provided later in the day.
