SF Parking fines may rise

SAN FRANCISCO

The following are the increases they are considering.

Drivers would be fined $60 dollars for parking at an expired meter downtown. In neighborhood commercial zones the fine would be $50 dollars.

One of the most common tickets, for street cleaning, would increase from $40 to $50 dollars.

The city also wants to start charging $74 dollars for a residential parking permit. That is up from $60.

A public hearing takes place at San Francisco City Hall on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The final vote is set for April 15, 2008.
