Holiday honors late Cesar Chavez

Celebrations were held all weekend to celebrate Monday's state holiday honoring the late Cesar Chavez.Chavez co-founded the United Farm Workers of America and is credited with improving working and living conditions for immigrant farm workers.

Student activists at UCLA planned to walk out of classes on Monday to protest schools not closing for the holiday.

The Los Angeles Unified School District was open, but some colleges and universities were closed.

Chavez would have been 81 Monday.
