Fresno Boy Dies after falling into Pool

4/8/2008 Fresno, CA It happened in northwest Fresno off River Vista and Gregory.

Kevin Do had been playing with friends just a few houses away when investigators said he ended up in a backyard swimming pool.

A neighbor helped pull the child out and gave him CPR. He died just after one o'clock Tuesday morning at Children's Hospital.

Investigators said it appears Do was underwater for at least a few minutes before he was found. He is a kindergartner at Liddell Elementary.

Do's death is the third similar tragedy in four days. Friday night, 5-year-old Alec Patlan died after falling into his family's pool. Monday afternoon fire crews responded to this east central Fresno home after another young child ended up in the family's pool. This child survived.

Firefighters say now is a good time to remind everyone of the potential dangers of swimming pools. "It only takes a second to lose track of your child. If you do lose track of your child and you do have a pool, the first place you should check is the pool," said Ken Shockley with the Fresno Fire Department.
