Josh Hartman and his fiancee, Ana Martin called relatives Thursday to say they were returning to port after fishing off Camp Pendleton.
That's the last anyone heard from them.
Their 32-foot boat was found intact and their ID's and cellphones on board, but the couple nowhere in sight.
Their disappearance has shocked family and friends.
"It was sobering. Especially hearing the boat was found and nobody was on it," remarked an acquaintance of the couple.
Mexican authorities are still searching for the pair.
But an effort by U.S. Coast Guard has been called off because of cold water temperatures.
