Valley Officer in Court on Child Molestation Charges

A south valley police officer was in court Monday on charges of child molestation.30-year old Garry Ferguson was a head officer at the Maricopa Police Department. He was arrested early this month on charges of sexual assault on a child and rape.

Police say the crimes happened in Lemoore.

Fergusons family was in court Monday morning where he was supposed to enter a plea. They refused to comment.

A friend of Ferguson's wife says they are shocked and saddened by the charges. Shondra Nelson, family friend, says "A lot of people are very blown away just trying to get through it all and just try to hold ourselves up."

Garry Ferguson will back in court to enter a plea and try to get his bail reduced.

He has five children.
