Fresno Traffic Stop Leads to ID Theft Bust

6/6/2008 Fresno, CA The Fresno Police Department's Crime Suppression Team made the bust just after 11:00 on Thursday night at an apartment in Clovis at Pico and Minnewawa.

Police said they couldn't identify the driver of a car they pulled over in southeast Fresno because he had several forms of identification. That led them to an apartment in Clovis.

With the help of Clovis Police and a warrant granted by a Fresno County judge Fresno Police searched the apartment.

That's when they found several computers, laminators, and blank forms of I.D.'s. "You may have a lot of victims here who are totally unaware that someone may have their social security number or personal information. There just being duplicated and sold to general members of the public for various reasons," said Steve Crawford with the Fresno Police Department.

Five people were arrested in the bust. Police don't know at this point how many victims had their identity stolen or where the victims are from.
