The national average price for unleaded gas now tops the $4 a gallon mark. AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report finds a gallon of regular unleaded going for just over $4 Sunday, up a notch from Saturday's $3.98 mark.

The highest average prices are in states like Alaska, California, Connecticut and Washington state. The lowest can be found in states that include Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee.

AAA says gas prices have gone up an average of about 33 cents a gallon since this time last month. Analysts say that's about 90 cents since this time last year.
