First Confirmed West Nile Cases in Fresno County

Fresno, CA The insects were found in the area of Highway 99 at the San Joaquin River and on the county's west side at the Mendota Wildlife Refuge.

These are the first confirmed cases of the virus in Fresno County this year. No human infections have been reported.

County Health Officials say dirty swimming pools are the leading source for mosquito breeding in residential areas of Fresno County.

To reduce the risk, people are asked to contact the county's Mosquito Abatement District to report swimming pools that are unattended.
