Beth Caffrey Education Manager for the CCSPCA said, "The busiest days for our shelter follow the 4th of July, due to fireworks and what they do to the animals." For $30 at all the locations listed you can protect your animal, and save the life of another.

KABOOM! Nothing frightens pets' more than sudden loud noises, quick flashing lights: Our traditional 4th of July celebration is made up of just that. Extra attention must be given to the comfort and safety of your pets while the fireworks are going on so they won't run away in a panic.

Scared Running Pets Can Get Hit By Cars, Cause Accidents, Get Lost And Frequently Bite People, Including Their Owners.

The Central California SPCA, makes the following suggestions:

Make sure all fences and gates are secure. Keep your pet indoors if possible with curtains shut or windows covered. The TV on can help as well.

Microchip them before the 4th of July, to get them registered. Make sure your pet has its license or identification tag on their collar.

Check with your veterinarian about tranquilizers for your pet.

When your pet is missing, check in person at the SPCA. The shelter is located at 103 S. Hughes and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 6 days a week on Wednesday we are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Central California SPCA will microchip all day on June 18th from 8 am to 7 pm for only a $30.00 fee.
