Multiple Drownings on the Kern River

6/30/2008 Bakersfield, CA An 18-year-old man disappeared in the river tonight, becoming the third victim to get swept up by the swift currents.

Rescue crews couldn't save a 38-year-old man on Saturday after he went into the river to save his teenage daughter. She got a cramp and panicked, but she got to shore even after her father went under.

A 24-year-old man also died on Friday when his inner tube popped. Friends said he didn't know how to swim.
