Japanese Beetle Found in Merced

Merced, CA The Japanese beetle has been found in the City of Merced. The Agriculture Commissioner for Merced County said that one of the beetles was found in a trap in southeast Merced.

He says the beetle is extremely destructive. It attacks both plants and Ag crops … including corn, grapes, strawberries and peaches.

The Japanese beetle's larvae feed on roots, while the adults eat the leaves and fruit of more than three- hundred crops.
