New California Laws Go Into Effect

KFSN Beginning this month, your annual vehicle registration fee will go up to provide funding for research on alternative fueling. Fees will go up between $3 to $11 dollars per month.

Another bill creates a program to provide more funding for alternative fuels and a new clean air program. Owners of cars less than six years old will have to pay an additional $8 dollars for smog abatement fees and an additional $2 dollars for registration.

Both laws are in effect through 2016.
