Starbucks Closing Valley Stores

7/18/2008 Fresno, CA The location in northwest Fresno at Herndon and Marks is one of the locations affected.

Starbucks announced the closures earlier this month. They said consumers are just not drinking as much coffee as they used to.

This morning some of the regulars at the Herndon and Marks Starbucks said they were disappointed that the coffee giant is making cutbacks. Bill Storey, Fresno, says "It's going to be kind of a sad thing because on Saturdays especially there are a lot of fun people that show up here."

Rick White, Fresno, says "I'm not happy with it, it's close to home and it's on the way to work. Employees are really nice and friendly, it's kind of sad."

The other valley locations shutting down include a central Fresno location at First and Shields. Starbucks is also closing down a Starbucks in Visalia, Exeter and Atwater. Starbucks has not released exactly when the closure takes effect, but say they will happen sometime between this month and the end of 2009.
