Police have provided few details, but the company claims the man was armed with a knife. A worker at the plant told Action News several employees witnessed the shooting. Foster Farms security would not allow reporters on the premises.
Workers leaving the plant told Action News the man was a former employee of the facility.
Police have not said why they were pursuing the man, and as of late Thursday night had not released his name.
Police say the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated by the Tulare County District Attorney's office.
