Deputies say someone found the grenade in a canal and then took it inside the apartment.
It was eventually moved outside into a backyard area, and that's where the bomb squad destroyed the device after placing it in a hole dug into the ground.
The bomb squad had another grenade scare just five days ago. A widow found a "World War II" hand grenade when she was sorting through her late husband's belongings. It turned out the explosive materials had already been removed.
