Investigators Follow Leads to Find Missing Valley Man

8/24/2008 Hanford, CA, USA Kings County Investigators say 38-year old Ricky McConnaughy led police on a chase in Dinuba. He was driving Robert Adams' truck and using his cell phone. They believe McConnaughy may know where 65-year old Robert Adams is but say he's not cooperating. Investigators say they've searched parts of the Kings River and other areas in Kings and Tulare Counties.

Kings County Sheriff Chris Jordan Chris Jordan says "We have conducted an extensive search through various areas attempting to locate him and we've not been able to locate him."

Adams' daughter, Ann Stockton, noticed her dad had been missing since last week, when he wasn't home for her weekly visits. Stockton says "I was just hanging around. His door was locked and so I waited and we always go and have some beers and talk because that's what we did." She called his cell phone but it went straight to voicemail. After he didn't answer his door the next day, she drove around Lemoore and other places her father frequents, looking for him.

It wasn't until Monday she got a phone call from her dad's cell phone. But on the other line was a Dinuba Police officer who said McConnaughy was driving her dad's truck and using his cell phone.

Ann Stockton says "I guess there was a chase and he totaled the truck and it wasn't my dad."

Stockton has been posting missing person's posters around town, hoping someone will spot him. She made a plea for help during Friday's press conference. Crying, Stockton said, "He is a sweet, old guy. He wouldn't hurt anyone. If people could please keep their out for him."

Robert Adams is 5'9'', has a thin build and is always wearing a cowboy hat and a plaid long-sleeve shirt. He has white-grayish hair and while he does have a mustache in the picture, his daughter says he recently shaved it.

The suspect, Ricky McConnaughy is being held without bail at the Tulare County Main Jail.
