Climate change threatens state Sequoias

9/5/2008 Federal researchers warn warming temperatures could cause the state's beloved giant Sequoias to die off more quickly. They said that global warming could also start interfering with the trees' ability to reproduce.

The giant Sequoia can grow to be more than 2,900 years old and more than 36 feet in diameter.

The U.S. Geological Survey said hot dry weather has already killed an unusual number of Pine and Fur trees growing in the Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks.
