Somber Milestone on a Somber Day

Afghanistan The death of a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan Thursday has made 2008 the deadliest year for U.S. troops in that country since the War on Terror began in the fall of 2001.

112 U.S. troops have died in Afghanistan this year. The latest death came in an insurgent attack on a compound.
