6 years ago, Yang wanted to move to the 6000 block of North Delbert Avenue because of the highly respected brand name: "McCaffrey Homes". Yang said, "Yea, I'm here to stay because right now I can't afford to buy another home."
Similar complaints span all across this Northwest Fresno neighborhood. 29 residents have banded together and are now suing the developer claiming the company produced defective homes.
Homeowner John Rojo said, "You can see a lot of cracks." Rojo said he called the developer about cracks and bad windows, but the company only fixed the windows. McCaffrey's president Robert McCaffrey declined to be interviewed on camera, but he said he will repair all legitimate problems.
In July, McCaffrey mailed a letter to residents. He blasted these types of lawsuits saying, "These attorneys have their own interests at heart, not yours. Joining a lawsuit has serious consequences, and may devalue your home...we stand behind the quality of our homes..."
Rojo said, "My wife was the one, she said, hey these floors are fading away. So, we had them checked, and they said we can't do anything about that." Rojo realizes some problems could be just normal wear and tear. But all the residents we spoke with believe their issues run much deeper.
