National Veterans Day Events

National News "Today we send a message for all who have worn uniforms when the nation needed you the most," said President Bush in New York City on Tuesday.

While at a re-dedication ceremony in New York for the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum, the president also thanked the family members of veterans who have served.

During his speech, the President made note that this will be his last Veterans Day as Commander In Chief. Thousands gathered for the event held on the World War II carrier.

Vice President Dick Cheney honored veterans by placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. He placed the wreath on its stand and held the ribbon quietly for a few moments. Hundreds of people gathered for the annual ceremony.
