Local Fire Crews Heading to SoCal

Fresno, CA, USA Their mission will be structure protection. With homes already burned they will work to protect what's still standing.

These crews have been warned they are in for a tough fight. The winds blasting those flames are expected to be hot and heavy at least through Wednesday.

Shasta County firefighter Jake Keown was among those stopping at CAL Fire Headquarters in Sanger on Monday. The crews are preparing for a long fight. "It's hard at times especially when you're gone for 14 days at a time. It's hard you start missing families, wife kids, husbands. It's hard. But they understand."He said.

It's a long trip, but most firefighters are used to it. Battling fires in Southern California has become a yearly ritual for firefighters from all over the state.
