The letter said if he doesn't give money to the "Yes on Eight" fund, they'll publish the name of his business as one that opposes traditional marriage. Abbot said he stands behind his donation.
"We're not caving. We're going to support our employees. We're going to support the freedom to marry a fundamental right to do what we can to make sure it's not taken away," said Abbott.
The "Yes on Eight" group confirms they sent letters to about thirty companies, but added a recent protest by "No on Eight" supporters forced one group to cancel a planned event at a local hotel.
