Gay Couples Continue to Marry in Fresno

In spite of opposing views on same sex marriage, gay couples continue to marry in Fresno; many at the County Clerk's Office in downtown Fresno.In the middle of helping early voters get their ballots, dozens of couples, both gay and straight, packed into the Clerk's office filling out marriage licenses.

27-year old Jacki Pemental and 26-year old Emily Alvarez drove from Coalinga with their family and friends to tie the knot today.

"It's the happiest day of my life and I'm so grateful to have this opportunity," said Emily Alvarez.

"We're not harming anybody we just love each other like anybody would love their partner, their mate," said Jacki Pemental.

County staff said Halloween is a popular day for marriages. They said, today was a very busy day for weddings. In the hour Action News there was six same sex couples were united in matrimony.
