Valley Teacher Accused of Child Pornography

Visalia, CA, USA Raymond Ferenci could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted. But after only spending one night in jail, he's going home for now.

Raymond Ferenci is expected to walk out of here anytime. Even though he's going home, much of his freedom has been taken away and he will be tracked at all times by a GPS monitor.

After his first appearance in federal court, its unlikely Raymond Ferenci will ever be teaching high school band again.

His attorney, Sal Sciandra says the nature of the charges and potential prison time have turned his clients life upside down.

Ferenci's Attorney Sal Sciandra said, "It's very devastating, a charge like this, people don't realize the serious impact of a charge like this and what the impact of a serious charge like this and what the serious consequences of a charge are and they're usually quite shocked and the family and he are in shock right now."

The 52 year old was ordered released but under strict conditions.

He must wear a GPS monitor, cannot use or possess a computer, is not allowed to access the internet at all, or possess or own a cell phone. Ferenci is not even allowed to be alone with his minor children.

According to federal court documents the investigation began 4 months ago when Ferenci was caught sending inappropriate text messages to several students. That led investigators to his Visalia home where child pornography was found on his computers.

The judge also told Ferenci he is not allowed within 100 feet of any place where minors are likely to be and he has a curfew from 9pm until 6:30 am.

Ferenci's wife is standing by his side. She is the Colorguard Director at Tulare Western.

If convicted Ferenci could face up to 30 years in prison.
