Fire crews found a bloody student in the building and took him away to a nearby hospital. It turned out, he had just minor burns and cuts to his hand.
Tonya Luiz, UC Merced, says "This is a straight forward research accident. He's going to be perfectly ok which means to most to us, it's just a very minor incident and everybody did what they were supposed to do."
The science lab didn't have any major damage, and classes are expected to carry on as usual next week.
