In a statement Bruegman said he is disappointed he did not get the job but looks forward to continuing his work as Fire Chief in the City of Fresno.
The Austin fire department is expected to announce Friday that Mae Kerr, Fire Chief of Little Rock, Arkansas will take over the position.
