86th Annual Christmas Tree Lane

Fresno, CA, USA Tree Fresno is all about planting and maintaining trees, more than 35-thousand trees since 1985; 4-thousand of them at area schools like Duncan Polytechnic High School in central Fresno. There you'll find seven members of the "Junior Board" of tree Fresno.

Vicki Vang, tree Fresno junior board: "Right before they planted the trees it was an empty sand lot. It was really hot here in the summer too, so with the trees kind of like have shade."

For Pa Chang it's about tackling air pollution. Trees, she explains, need what is bad for us and give back what we humans need to breathe. Pa Chang, tree Fresno junior board: it goes thru the process of photo-synthesis and we get a lot of oxygen from there and it takes in carbon dioxide.

Several miles north on the Fresno state campus is university high and three more young board members with the same goals.

Emily bushman, tree fresno junior board: "Meeting all these different people and seeing what their background is and where they come from and what motivated them to join tree fresno is really very inspiring."

The junior board consists of thirty-four teens from eight different high schools all with a single purpose that gains support from a pair of Annual Christmas Tree Lane walk-only nights.

On the second walk night this year, Wednesday - December 10th, they'll all be working the event hoping visitors will join their cause.

Katharine McGregor, tree Fresno junior board: "Asking for whatever we can get to plant more trees and making Fresno a greener place."

The two walk only nights on Christmas Tree Lane directly benefit the mission of tree Fresno.
