Firefighters put down Newbury Park fire

California News Firefighters have gotten the upper hand on a fast-moving brush fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon along the 101 Freeway near Thousand Oaks.

Officials say the fire was a 2 alarm blaze when they responded near the 101 Freeway in Newbury Park. The fire is just past Wendy Drive, along Conejo Grade.

There are no reports of injuries, but the fire burned about 30 acres and has spread quickly due to the wind.

There are no structures threatened at this time.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the area. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
