Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the old facility is not equipped to meet training needs but the new center provides real world scenarios that will help keep citizens and officers safe.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer said, "Far too many of our officers in the state of California are being killed as a result of traffic collisions, as a result of being shot in the line of duty. This is our opportunity to ensure our officers have the training they need to ensure they will not be one of those statistics."
Mayor Autry attended Wednesday ground breaking ceremony. He says another added bonus of the new facility is the new jobs it brings to the Fresno area.
