Christmas Eve Mass

Fresno, CA, USA This group at the First Armenian Presbyterian Church in Southeast Fresno gathered to sing Christmas carols last night. Church organizers say the struggling economy may be drawing bigger crowds than usual this year.

Songs about the birth of Jesus Christ rang throughout the halls of Peoples Church in Fresno Wednesday night. An estimated 2,200 people packed the Christmas Eve celebration.

At Peace Lutheran Church, many say Christmas Eve services bring unity among people from different backgrounds.

And while major Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter tend to draw bigger crowds at churches, Peoples Church says it's had 10 percent more people coming to services this year as compared to last year. Pastor Doug Holck said increased ministering and the country's current economic status is behind the rising numbers.

And the holiday is just another catalyst to keep people praying.
