More layoffs are planned in Silicon Valley.

Electronic Arts says it will slash about 1100 jobs and close 12 facilities.

Pink slips will go to around 11 percent of workers at the Redwood City-based video game giant.

The layoffs follow lower sales for its games during the holiday season.

EA also plans to shift its focus to build more games for Nintendo's Wii game system.
