Armstrong was able rejoin the race after getting on a spare bicycle. At this time he is showing no sign of serious injury.
Today's stage began in Sausalito and ends in Santa Cruz. Wednesday's stage four will take riders from Merced through Mariposa and will end in Clovis. Thursday's race begins in Visalia and ends in Paso Robles.
