Fresno State Baseball Season Opener

Fresno, CA, USA Only 100 student tickets and 125 "standing room only" tickets remain as of Friday morning. They'll go on sale Friday afternoon.

Even though Friday's game is sold out, not to worry, the Bulldogs will play the Huskies in a three-game series at Beiden Field and tickets are still available for Saturday and Sunday.

Can the underdogs turned wonderdogs deliver again? Thousands of fans can't wait to find out.

The number 16 Fresno State Baseball Team opens their 2009 season tonight against Washington. And 3,575 fans will fill Beiden Field to capacity to witness the game.

"From the success of the baseball team and the way the community has adopted the team and gotten back into the sense of baseball, it's tremendous," said FSU Assoc. Athletic Director Paul Ladwig. "We'd love to have the governor there obviously we have a seat with his name on it."

Ladwig has invited Governor Schwarzenegger to the game. No word on whether he'll show up.

As for the Diamond Dogs themselves, amidst all the attention and build up to the big game, they looked rested and ready at yesterday's practice.

Since the team's World Series win last summer, sales at the bulldog shop have held steady. But before Friday's game, they're seeing another surge.

"Business has really picked up this week for us, selling baseball jerseys, National Championship merchandise, things like that so we're all really excited about it and we're hoping for the first win of the season," said Sarah Lanfranco.

Gates open at 4 pm. Get there early: the first 2,500 fans in the gates will get a free National Championship rally towel. Former players, including Justin Wilson and Steve Susdorf will be available to sign autographs.
