A sold-out crowd watched the dogs begin their title defense against the University Of Washington.
On the mound, Holden Sprague was dealing. The Bullard high standout worked six innings -- striking out six, but did not factor into the decision.
The dogs trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th, until Jake Johnson stepped to the plate with two runners aboard -- coming thru with a 2-run single to left. Fresno State's first runs of the season -- also gave them the lead.
The game would be tied at 4 in the bottom of the 9th -- with Johnson on third base and one out.
Washington's Brian Pearl on the mound uncorks the wild pitch -- allowing Johnson to score.
Dogs open the season with a walk off wild pitch.
