A high speed pursuit in rush hour traffic is nothing new for commuters in Southern California. But, Thursday evening's drive home was anything but ordinary.

A passenger in a pick-up threw a handful of cash right out the window and onto the freeway during a high speed chase.

Many drivers wasted no time, stopping their cars and grabbing as many 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars bills as they could - even as police cruisers and other traffic raced by.

Authorities say officers recovered more than $17,000 from the roads. And, they say many people later turned in the cash they grabbed.

Police later arrested the two drug suspects in the pickup after a 45 minute chase.
