Quake with magnitude of 4.4 hits near Morgan Hill

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (AP) The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at 10:40 a.m. Monday about eleven miles north of Morgan Hill, or about 16 miles southeast of San Jose.

A dispatcher with the Morgan Hill Police Department described the quake as "short, but strong."
