Hmong Veterans Fundraiser

Fresno, CA A large band greeted hundreds of guests at a fundraiser for the association of the United States Army. General Vang Pao was the honored guest.

The Hmong leader helped U.S. forces during the Vietnam War and led thousands of Hmong from Laos to America.

But two years ago, federal prosecutors charged him with conspiring to overthrow the Laotian government.

Saturday's fundraiser was a chance for General Pao and the Hmong community to thank the soldiers they relied on then and now.

It's recruiting more members to support the active military and the retired military and so they're here. And also we're veterans so we have to do our part.

General Pao will be back in court in Sacramento on May 11th. His supporters said there's a chance his case will be thrown out.
