Drug and Child Endangerment Arrests

Fresno, CA The child's mother and the father of one of the children were arrested after social workers found out the children may have been exposed to the dangerous chemicals.

Jesse Garcia just walked out of jail a few hours ago. The children's mother says he is the one responsible for what police found and it was enough for authorities to take away her three children ages one, three and five years old.

Inside a garage, Dalia Romero says police found enough evidence to take her three children away. Burners, Sudafed pills and acetone-- just a few ingredients she says authorities found. She blames the drug lab and drug habit on her former fiancée, Jesse Garcia.

Child Protective Services Manager Danny Morris says social workers were responding to a call of general neglect when they stumbled upon the dangerous drug making material.

Romero was arrested along with her youngest son's father. Both were taken to jail on felony charges of child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

Romero denies using drugs but says Garcia has a history of drug abuse. She claims he quit using until recently.

At a hearing Monday Romero says CPS also pointed out she did not have adequate food in the home for the children and the house was in disarray.

Romero says about the same time she figured out what was going on in her garage, CPS was at her door with police.

Romero says the children are in foster care. CPS workers who responded to the scene had to decontaminate themselves also due to exposure. Romero says she passed a drug test but with everything else she's facing, it doesn't seem to be enough to get her kids back.
