Third Bomb Scare at Fresno High School this Year

Fresno, CA /*Fresno High School*/ now has the highest incidents of bomb threats for /*Fresno Unified*/ this year. The bomb squad says Thursday morning's package was a fake, but planting a fake bomb is a felony. Now officials are stepping up efforts to find out who is responsible.

It was inside of /*Royce Hall*/ that a strange package left on a stairwell made /*Principal Bob Reyes*/ call the police.

Fresno High Principal Bob Reyes, "It was a lunch nylon bag, but on the bag itself was a note saying this is a bomb."

The school's staff took no chances evacuating nearly 25 hundred students to the far ends of campus. Students like Lizbeth Pichardo missed two hours of class standing outside.

Lizbeth Pichardo said, "I thought it was a regular fire drill but when we were out there longer; I thought, again." Again, because this is the third bomb threat at Fresno High School since January.

On January 12th, a suspicious package was found in a boy's bathroom. Another suspicious package was discovered two weeks ago. The incidents have students and staff growing frustrated.

Crystal Maciel said, "It makes me mad because I want to learn more and get some more education but they disrupt it all the time."

Fresno Police officers say it costs them nearly a thousand dollars every time they respond to a bomb threat. Principal Reyes says threats are so serious he is willing to pay students for their help.

"We've been authorized by our district to offer a thousand dollar reward," said Principal Reyes.

Reyes hopes the new reward will put an end to the bomb scares. He also wants the person or people involved expelled.

4th period was cancelled because of the bomb threat, but classes will continue as normal on Friday. If you have any information on this bomb threat Fresno Police are asking you to give them a call.
